Real estate questions I get asked at inopportune times

Where Can I Get a Deal in Manhattan?

I know I am a slightly feeble blonde, but you’re just going to have to trust me on this one.

Speaking from experience, every free-will facet of life in this city comes with a decision from which there are a dozen choices. This mainly manifests itself in my daily life with choosing what the hell to eat for dinner…which typically defaults to take out from Kiki’s or the aforementioned Dimes hummus. But this general sentiment is human nature – everyone is looking for the next best thing:
Oh Encarta, the digital Encyclopedia Brittanica of the Future? – Boom, Google
Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes will comeback post-lobotomy? – Meet Emma Stone
Hey, Android developers! Do you want to make your game available for a smaller audience and without touchscreen support? – We all know you get judged if your texts are green…
God, these parachute pants are so trendy – The branding is a lie so instead meet skinny jeans, which make your legs look like sausages
Dippin’ Dots are “the ice cream of the future” – Dippin Dots were made 29 years ago.
But Steve Jobs was quoted as saying the Segway would be “as big a deal as the PC” – Lazy children everywhere have really taken to Hover-boards, seeing natural selection knocked out the more active little idiots who really took to parkour.
One violation of this rule: Printers. Printers reached their peak in the 80’s just like Mischa Barton reached her peak in 2005 with The OC. The general populous agrees that neither will ever get any better and we’re all fairly content with that reality.
So reining this in, my favorite Miss Cleo question I field is, “Where should I buy for the best investment? What’s going to be the next great neighborhood?” If I could predict the future, I would’ve bet my entire family’s net wealth on the Patriots at halftime of the 2017 Superbowl. What one person considers an investment compared to another can be motivated by a whole host of factors, but if I could identify a handful of neighborhoods, here we go:
Alright baby cakes, I’m feeling like you’re a Capricorn, you’ll get a Condo in Chinatown and…is there someone incarcerated in your life…
Call. Me. Now.

1. In Manhattan: Chinatown/Two Bridges
So while I’m sure anyone who reads this monstrosity is aware, I’m confident in the investment potential of Chinatown and Two Bridges. To help ease you into a mutual love of the ‘hood, I’ve covered places to eat, an unrivaled night at the cinema, and will continue to make you feel like a local…before the rest of populous sinks their dollars into that sentiment.
2. Also in Manhattan: The Lower East Side
The Lower East Side is seeing another revival of new development, with monsters such as 196 Orchard (which will house an Equinox [!!!]), 150 Rivington, 242 Broome, 50 Clinton and 215 Chrystie. We could keep beating these areas into the ground (and will in subsequent emails), but for sake of variance…
3. In the Bronx: Mott Haven/South Bronx
With its close proximity to Manhattan, the South Bronx has become the epicenter of the Bronx’s new development surge. Along with affordable apartments for both renters and buyers, this area is seeing an influx of commercial and retail developments.

4. In Brooklyn: Boerum Hill/Downtown Brooklyn

Boerum Hill is flanked to the North and the South by two neighborhoods currently seeing MASSIVE new development trends, those being Downtown Brooklyn and Gowanus, and also by two neighborhoods that have consistently been commanding a high price point for years, the notorious Prospect Heights and Cobble Hill.  With easy access to the 2/3/4/5/F/G trains, Boerum Hill marries an easy transit to Manhattan with a clean, convenient, endearing and active neighborhood. With the surrounding development boom, the price per square foot of Boerum Hill condos will assuredly appreciate, allowing buyers an opportunity to own an effortless condo in a very brownstone-fabric neighborhood for a lower entry price point.
