Uh, did the CDC see these plans?

Up next, a Lazy River through the Gowanus Canal.

Future New York City headline: A shortage of Hep C and Tetanus vaccines cripples the city as massive numbers of 20-somethings contract E.Coli and develop Alex-Mack-like super powers. Just another thing to blame our children’s mutations on, in addition to Monster Energy consumption and residual Easy Bake Oven radiation.
Someone in the city thought it would be a good idea to endorse some new floating contraptions that bring passengers dangerously close to the questionable waters of the Hudson. On the safer side of things, Governor’s Island has some non-aquatic additions and the upcoming America’s Cup will allow you to watch – safely and from a distance – while others churn up NYC’s lovely antibiotic resistance waters.

+Pool is one of the zaniest projects proposed for the New York waterfront: this cross-shaped pool would float in the East River while employing a filtration system to clean the surrounding river water for use as pool water for swimmers aboard.

Swale, essentially a garden on top of a floating barge, has been best described as a floating food forest comprised of fruit trees and plants, all of which will be edible and can be sampled by visitors free of cost.

Governor’s Island‘s new park, the Hills, consists of four varying hills – Outlook, Grassy, Discovery, and Slide.
Outlook Hill rises 80 feet above the esplanade with a “granite scramble” for climbers and a more leisurely path for pedestrians. Grassy Hill offers similar views as Outlook but is a tad bit friendlier.  Discovery Hill and Slide Hill will tie for the island’s second-tallest peaks, with Slide Hill featuring four slides that deliver children (and creepy adults) through a grove of trees.

From Saturday May 7th to Sunday May 8th, the epicenter of the 2016 America’s Cup festivities will be in Battery Park City and the Brookfield Place Waterfront Plaza. All races will finish just off the plaza, which will house the central event village. Thousands of spectators are expected to watch the race, either on land along the pier or from hundreds of spectator boats on the water near the race course.
